Peppermint Ice Cream

Even though it is cool outside - My daughter Emily is working at Chick-Fil-A here in Montgomery, and brags about CFA's Peppermint Milkshake that they have just launched for the Holiday Season.  So I thought this sounded good.  I can remember the old wooden ice cream churn that my grandparents had.  It had an electric motor that had this "whining" noise as it churned.  I can remember my Grandmother giving me a spoonful of the "mixture" before it was churned.  Looking at the RAW EGGS in the recipe it is amazing I did not get food poisioning.

6 eggs beaten
1 pkg vanilla ice cream powder
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 quart of half and half cream
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 tall call of evaporated milk
Milk (There is no mention of how much)
* About 3 cups of crushed hard peppemint candy

Directions:

Beat eggs well, add ice cream powder and stir.  Stir Well.  Stir in other ingredients; adding the peppermint candy last.  Add enough whole milk to mixture to fill gallon ice cream freezer about 2/3 full.

This is not the Peppermint Ice Cream, but it is my Grandfather, Ben Holland; my brother, Travis Branch; and my cousin Destiny Holland Kuykendall eating ice cream which was always plentiful at the Holland House.  If you notice my cousin has enjoyed it all too well!
