Nutella French Toast with Strawberries

I must be really thinking about breakfast, but here is another great way to keep the corn flakes in the pantry.

What two combinations could be any better than Nutella and strawberries....

1 cup of sliced strawberries
2 tsp of sugar
juice of half a lemon
4 slices of bread - you can use regular bread, but Texas toast would be ideal
1/2 cup of Nutella
1 large egg
3/4 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of melted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/4 teaspoon of salt
butter (for the pan)
powder sugar to sprinkle on the toast

Combine the strawberries, sugar and lemon juice in a bowl.  Set aside and let it marinate and get to room temperature.

Spread the Nutella on each slice of bread in the amount that you want.  Basically create a Nutella sandwich.

In a bowl whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, vanilla, cinammon, and salt. Pour mixture in a pie pan or shallow dish.

Dredge each side of the sandwich in the egg mixture.  You need to let it soak about 30-40 seconds on each side.

Add the sandwich to the griddle that has been heated with the butter.  You need to cook each side of the sandwich to a golden brown (1-2 minutes).  Add more butter as needed.

No one said this was a healthy breakfast....

Transfer to a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Top with the strawberry mixture, and serve immediately.

Mmmmmm and Happy Cooking!
