Chocolate Glazed Pineapple Cream Cake

I came across this recipe and I can truly say that I do not remember eating this, but it sounds truly rich and sinful.

1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 baked 9" square yellow cake
1 pkg sweet cooking chocolate (4 ozs.)
1 tsp butter
1 cup sifted confectioners sugar
3 slices candied pineapple
2 tsp cornstarch
3/4 cup water
1 can crushed pineapple (8 oz can)
1/4 cup heavy cream
3 tsp water
1 tsp vanilla
3 maraschino cherries

Blend granulated sugar, cornstarch, salt and 3/4 cup water together.  Stir in egg; then stir in pineapple with syrup.  Cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened and comes to full boil.  Removed from heat and cool.  Split cake horizontally in half.  Whip cream, blend into cooled filling.  Spread over cut side of bottom half of cake.  Place remaining cake on filling, top side up.  Melt chocolate and butter in 3 tsp of water over low heat, stirring to melt and blend.  Add vanilla, spread over top of cake, letting some of glaze run down side.  Decorate with candied pineapple slices and cherries and chill.

Enjoy this Rolodex Recipe!
